PHOENIX — The City of Phoenix is helping to distribute funds awarded from a settlement recently reached in a legal case brought against Weidner Property Management LCC.

Up to $493,000 in funds will be available to eligible tenants of the Weidner properties in Phoenix, city officials announced Tuesday.

Earlier this year, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office announced that Weidner agreed to pay $1 million to settle allegations the landlords had artificially inflated rent prices. Weidner did not admit to wrongdoing by agreeing to the terms of the settlement.

City officials have announced that current and former tenants of the 18 Weidner properties in Phoenix may be eligible for up to $6,000 from the settlement fund.

Eligible tenants must have a gross income that is at or below 100% of the state median income ($107,976 annually for a family of four), city officials said.

Tenants must provide their current landlord a W-9 tax form to qualify. Phoenix residents can apply for a portion of the funding here.

Funds will only be paid to a landlord or property manager on behalf of the applicant, not directly to an individual. The funds are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
