PHOENIX — We have a Weather Impact Alert in effect for the Valley through Tuesday due to extreme temperatures (by May standards) that will reach near-record highs. Monday’s high reached a scorching 109 degrees, just one degree shy of the daily record high.

This hot weather pattern (normal high in Phoenix is 92) will back off starting on Wednesday.

Very minimal chances of the sky springing a leak around the Four Corners over the next 36 hours.

There will be a few clouds cruising in by Wednesday as a weather system passes by to our north. That will help weaken the high-pressure ridge and take the edge off the high heat. A “cooling” trend takes us closer to 100 degrees in the Valley by Thursday.

Northern Arizona will see a few clouds, breezy conditions, and daytime highs scaling back into the 70s by Wednesday around Flagstaff.

Expect to see high temperatures in the Phoenix area right around 100 through the weekend.
