MESA, Ariz. — A man was seriously burned in a car fire on the westbound US 60 in the East Valley on Friday morning, according to DPS.

Around 7 a.m., DPS was called to a car fire along the westbound US 60 near Alma School Road in Mesa.

Officials said a man sustained serious burn injuries and will be hospitalized.

DPS said due to the nature of the driver’s burn injuries, troopers will maintain closures during the investigation for approximately two hours.

What is closed and open

  • The westbound Country Club Road on-ramp will remain closed. 
  • The westbound Alma School Road off-ramp will remain closed.
  • The far-right #5 lanes are closed. 
  • The HOV and lanes 1-4 are open.

The Mesa Fire Department said the fire has been fully extinguished.
