BUCKEYE, Ariz. — A man is in custody after a shooting that left a 16-year-old pregnant woman dead and two other women critically injured in Buckeye on Thursday.
Buckeye police responded to a shooting in the area of Elwood Street and 257th Avenue around 8 p.m., officials confirmed.
Upon arrival, officers found three women suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police said two of the victims, a 17-year-old pregnant girl and a 22-year-old woman, were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
A woman identified as 16-year-old Rylee Montgomery, who was also pregnant, died at the scene.
Police said initial information indicated that the women were shot outside a home on Elwood Street.

Two males were seen running from the scene.
On Friday morning, the Buckeye Police Department said a man was taken into custody in Avondale for the shooting. The man was arrested near MC-85 and Dysart Road. SWAT was called to arrest the man, police say. The U.S. Marshals and Avondale Police Department assisted.
The man was identified as Rylee’s boyfriend, 18-year-old Michael Sanchez, police said.
Sanchez has been booked into jail on multiple felony charges.
