Since 1939, players, managers, announcers, and other personalities in Mexican baseball have been becoming immortal.

On May 12, the committee selected two former D-backs, Erubiel Durazo and Rodrigo Lopez, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

Durazo and Lopez are among the seven people selected in four categories. Five candidates were nominated under the category “Mexicans in the Major Leagues.” Durazo and Lopez received most of the votes and were selected, according to a post on the organization’s post on X.

Erubiel Durazo played with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 1999 to 2002. He was on the team in 2001, when the D-backs won the World Series Championship, the season in which Durazo “Rubi” was a key player to the team’s success.

Durazo also played with the Narangeros de Hermosillo, a team in his home city.

Durazo continues to be part of the D-backs as Special Advisor on Mexico to the President, CEO & General Partner since 2016. He’s also the Director of Sports in Sonora State.

Rodrigo Lopez was a Diamondbacks pitcher in 2010 before he became one of the Spanish announcers for the team in 2013.

In 2023, Lopez was the General Manager for the Mexican Baseball Team in the World Baseball Classic, taking the team to another level. In 2026, once again, Lopez was the team’s GM in the WBC.

Lopez continues to be one of the Spanish announcers for the D-backs along with Oscar Soria, who, by the way, was inducted into the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2025 in the category of announcer.
