PHOENIX, Arizona \u2014 Salt River Project is significantly expanding its investment in heat resiliency efforts across central Arizona by committing $1.3 million to non-profits and community organizations that support residents during the state’s increasingly long and dangerous summers.<\/p>\n

The funding will boost programs that provide HVAC repair and replacement, cooling and respite centers, tree\u2011planting initiatives, unsheltered outreach, and community education.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

SRP leaders say the goal is to reduce both outdoor heat exposure and unsafe indoor conditions for vulnerable residents.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cAs the Valley experiences longer periods of extreme heat, SRP recognizes the importance of supporting organizations that help address the increasing needs of our community,\u201d said Anne Rickard, SRP\u2019s director of community partnerships.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

SRP’s goal is to help reduce heat-related risks by partnering with agencies that manage both outdoor heat exposure and unsafe indoor conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The utility is also supplementing its financial support with volunteer work. Earlier this year, SRP employees assembled 3,250 heat\u2011relief kits, triple the number built in 2025, and distributed them to the Arizona Faith Network, Circle the City, Phoenix Rescue Mission and St. Vincent de Paul.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
