{"id":1438,"date":"2026-05-31T14:03:39","date_gmt":"2026-05-31T14:03:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=1438"},"modified":"2026-05-31T14:03:39","modified_gmt":"2026-05-31T14:03:39","slug":"major-us-airline-accused-of-letting-drunken-passengers-board-flights-now-faces-stiff-penalty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=1438","title":{"rendered":"Major US airline accused of letting drunken passengers board flights now faces stiff penalty"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>WASHINGTON \u2014 The Federal Aviation Administration is threatening\u00a0a $165,000 civil penalty against Alaska Airlines for allegedly allowing intoxicated passengers to board flights nearly a dozen times within a year.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=1436\">2026 FIFA World Cup | US team captain celebrated as a leader on and off the pitch<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Federal regulations prohibit airlines from allowing passengers who appear intoxicated to board an aircraft because of potential safety risks.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The FAA claims the airline allowed the violations on 11 flights between February 2024 and February 2025.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Alaska Airlines said in a statement\u00a0obtained by Alaska Public Media that it fully participated in an FAA audit examining the airline\u2019s policies and practices related to intoxicated passengers.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The airline said it has since made \u201cmeaningful changes,\u201d including enhanced training for flight attendants and customer service agents.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=1434\">Bus driver charged in deadly chain-reaction crash on I-95 in Virginia that killed 5 people<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cWe respect the results of the FAA\u2019s audit and are confident in the changes that have been in place for the last year to ensure our shared standards are being met,\u201d the airline said in the statement.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The FAA announced the proposed penalty Tuesday and said Alaska Airlines has 30 days after receiving the agency\u2019s enforcement letter to respond.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The FAA told Alaska Public Media the airline can dispute the allegations, negotiate with the agency or pay the proposed penalty.
