{"id":1668,"date":"2026-06-04T05:34:24","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T05:34:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=1668"},"modified":"2026-06-04T05:34:24","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T05:34:24","slug":"17-year-old-dead-16-year-old-hurt-in-shooting-at-desert-sky-mall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=1668","title":{"rendered":"17-year-old dead, 16-year-old hurt in shooting at Desert Sky Mall"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>PHOENIX \u2014 A 17-year-old is dead, and a 16-year-old was injured after a shooting at Desert Sky Mall in Phoenix on June 2, according to the city&#8217;s police department.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=1666\">Phoenix photo radar program surpasses 132,000 recorded incidents and 17,000 citations<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Around 8:30 p.m., police were called to a shooting at the mall near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Early information provided by callers described shots fired inside the mall and potential victims, police said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Upon arrival, officers worked to secure the perimeter and the mall&#8217;s interior while shops either closed or went into lockdown, officials said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Police said they located a 17-year-old male teen who was critically injured by gunfire. The teen was taken to the hospital by the Phoenix Fire Department and later died.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A second male teen, who is 16 years old, had a non-life-threatening injury.
