WASHINGTON \u2014 More than 320,000 solar-powered cameras are under recall after reports that the devices’ lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing a risk of serious burns or fire.\u00a0<\/p>

The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall alert for the Wyze Solar Cam Pan security cameras following 13 consumer reports of the security cameras overheating and six reports of them exploding and catching fire, including six reports of minor burns from the incidents.\u00a0<\/p> <\/div>\n

\n

According to the recall notice, the cameras shipped with incorrect assembly instructions that could lead users to inadvertently puncture the lithium-ion battery’s metal casing\u00a0<\/p> <\/div>\n

\n

They were available online through Amazon, B2B Renew, Best Buy, and Wyze.com, as well as in-store at Home Depot and Micro Center locations, between October 2025 and April 2026, at a retail price of approximately $80.<\/p> <\/div>\n

\n

The recalled cameras were sold in white and are wire-free, equipped with a motorized pan-and-tilt function and an integrated solar panel. Users can identify the recalled product by the model number WYZESCPWH located at the back of the camera.\u00a0<\/p>

Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled security cameras immediately. Those who used a long, flat-head screw to install the solar panel on top of the camera are specifically included in the recall. Anyone unsure about which screw was used during installation should consult Wyze’s website for guidance.<\/p> <\/div>\n

Customers with the recalled product can get a free replacement camera with a solar panel accessory, a full refund, or a gift card for the original purchase price to use on the firm\u2019s website, according to the recall.\u00a0<\/span><\/p> <\/div>\n

\n

C<\/span>onsumers will be required to attest to the disposal of the recalled camera, which should be in accordance with local and state regulations.\u00a0<\/span>Recalled lithium-ion batteries must be disposed of differently from other batteries, because they present a greater risk of fire.\u00a0<\/span><\/p> <\/div>\n

\n

Municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection centers may accept them \u2014 but consumers should call ahead to confirm before dropping off a device. If a local HHW facility does not accept recalled lithium-ion batteries, residents should contact their municipality for further guidance.<\/p>
