PHOENIX \u2014 A years-long project to redevelop the interchange at Interstate 10 and the Loop 101 is scheduled to begin this week.<\/p>

The freeway-to-freeway project in the West Valley will involve various construction improvements and is estimated to cost at least $192 million. Work is expected to begin during the weekend of May 15.<\/p> <\/div>\n

\n

The Arizona Department of Transportation said the southbound lanes of the Loop 101 between Indian School Road and I-10 will be closed this weekend to allow for work to begin. The closure starts Friday at 9 p.m. and ends Monday at 5 a.m.<\/p> <\/div>\n

Project improvements will include a new HOV ramp within the existing interchange, widening both freeways and an extension of the southbound Loop 101 off-ramp at McDowell Road.<\/p>

The project is being funded through the Prop. 400 half-cent sales tax that’s dedicated to transportation improvements throughout the Valley. The interchange project is estimated to take three years to complete, ADOT said.<\/p> <\/div>\n
