KINGMAN, Ariz. \u2014 A wild burro recently fell into an unfortunate situation at an RV park in northwestern Arizona and required the assistance of some local residents.<\/p>

The Bureau of Land Management reported of a harrowing predicament that played out along Oatman Highway in Golden Valley after a donkey was found struggling to keep its head above the raw sewage of a septic tank.\u00a0<\/p> <\/div>\n

\n

Two burro specialists from the agency were dispatched to the scene and found the tired burro sticking its head outside the opening of a tank that was six feet deep. The RV park residents believed the animal had been stuck in the tank overnight.\u00a0<\/p> <\/div>\n

\n

A maintenance crew helped to cut open the tank’s top and a strap was then placed around the burro to life the animal out. A water hose was then used to gently rinse off the dirty donkey.<\/p>

The agency said the animal eventually regained enough strength to wander off onto nearby public lands.<\/p> <\/div>\n

\u201cRescues like this highlight the incredible link between the BLM and local communities. When people and wild burros share space, situations can get complicated quickly,\u201d John Hall, BLM Arizona\u2019s Wild Horse and Burro Program lead, said in a statement. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful for the teamwork that helped bring this burro to safety and for the continued support from the public in protecting these animals.\u201d\u00a0<\/p> <\/div>\n

\n

The agency noted how the RV park is located within the agency’s largest herd management area in Arizona that is home to a wide variety of animals.<\/p>
