Her local McDonald&#8217;s just gave her a full ride to college."},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>ARLINGTON, Texas \u2014 An 11-year-old Texas girl who survived a house fire recieved quite the gift from her local McDonald&#8217;s \u2014 \u00a0a full college scholarship.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=777\">New cat cafe in north Phoenix helps address area\u2019s stray kitty problem<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>As TV station WFAA first reported last week, back in March, firefighters were called to a house fire in Arlington, Texas, where a little girl was trapped inside.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cI can hear my daughter\u2019s scream still to this day,\u201d said Alex Salinas. \u201cIt\u2019s the scariest feeling. It\u2019s like, \u2018what do you do?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Salinas says 11-year-old Delilah spent more than a month in the hospital getting treatment for second- and third-degree burns to her arms and face.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>When she got out, the fire department was called back to her house, only this time it was far less consequential.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Firefighters gave Delilah a ride to school on her first day back since the fire. She said it was the highlight of her recovery, although she wasn\u2019t too thrilled to be back at school.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cNo, not at all,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Where did she want the fire department to take her?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cMcDonald\u2019s,\u201d Delilah laughed.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Firefighters didn\u2019t need to take Delilah to McDonald\u2019s because after her story first aired, McDonald\u2019s came to her.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Anthony Grissett owns several McDonald\u2019s franchises, and when he saw Delilah\u2019s story, he delivered. More importantly, Grissett provided encouragement.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cLife has a way to turn tragedy into opportunity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>For Delilah, this was that opportunity.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Grissett told her that if she does well in school and one day works for McDonald\u2019s, the company will pay for her college.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>She couldn\u2019t believe it.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cI have never had that happen before to me at all,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Delilah says the offer has made her more eager to come to school and work hard.
