PHOENIX \u2014 A Phoenix woman was indicted by a grand jury recently for attempting to smuggle multiple rifles and weapon parts across the southern border in April, according to the United States Department of Justice District of Arizona.<\/p>\n

According to court documents, on April 19, Migdelia Irma Mendoza, 42, of Phoenix, was traveling in a Lexus to Mexico and passed multiple signs warning drivers that firearms and ammunition are prohibited in the Republic of Mexico, the DOJ said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

When Mendoza attempted to cross the border in Nogales, officers conducted an “outbound inspection.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Officials said her car was searched, and an RPG launcher tube, firearms and firearm parts were found. The DOJ said the weapons and weapon parts were wrapped in green plastic and found in a compartment under the rear seat.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
