{"id":942,"date":"2026-05-22T22:33:56","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T22:33:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=942"},"modified":"2026-05-22T22:33:56","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T22:33:56","slug":"driver-pleads-guilty-for-i-10-school-bus-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=942","title":{"rendered":"Driver pleads guilty for I-10 school bus crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>MARANA, Ariz. \u2014 Nicolas Luis Rodriguez pleaded guilty to multiple charges stemming from an April 1, 2025, crash on Interstate 10 in Marana that injured dozens of people on a school bus.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=940\">Here is what\u2019s closed on Memorial Day in metro Phoenix<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Rodriguez entered guilty pleas to three counts of aggravated assault resulting in serious physical injury, criminal damage greater than $10,000 and driving while impaired to the slightest degree.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The charges are connected to a collision involving a school bus carrying approximately 40 people, including Kingman Unified School District students.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The crash happened near Tangerine Road and involved an SUV driven by Rodriguez, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Three victims sustained serious injuries, including one student who suffered a left-hand amputation.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>25 people were transported to Banner Main while 15 people were taken to Tucson Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=938\">Car catches fire in Loop 101 crash in Tempe<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Rodriguez, a 30-year-old man from Marana, told investigators he smoked marijuana two days before the crash.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>He provided a saliva sample that tested positive for THC, and blood samples were collected for laboratory analysis.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Rodriguez appeared in Pima County Superior Court on May 4, 2026, where he entered his guilty pleas.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The court found that Rodriguez knowingly, voluntarily and intelligently entered the pleas and that there was a factual basis for them.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Rodriguez is scheduled for sentencing on June 15, 2026.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>He was permitted to remain out of custody until sentencing or until further order of the court.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/scottsdalemovinghub.com\/?p=936\">23-year-old accused of killing his cousin at Peoria home<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><em>*Editor&#8217;s Note: The above video is from an earlier broadcast*<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MARANA, Ariz. \u2014 Nicolas Luis Rodriguez pleaded guilty to multiple charges stemming from an April 1, 2025, crash on Interstate 10 in Marana that injured dozens of people on a school bus.
