PHOENIX — Two people were taken to the hospital following a crash in Phoenix Saturday that has closed the eastbound lanes of Peoria Avenue.

Officers were called to the area of 38th and Peoria avenues just before 4 p.m. for reports of a crash, according to the Phoenix Police Department. 

When officers arrived, they found a black pickup truck and a silver SUV had been involved in the crash.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital, one with life-threatening injuries. 

The eastbound lanes of Peoria Avenue have been closed while officers work to clear the scene.
