PHOENIX — A woman was critically injured Monday morning in a shooting reported in north Phoenix.

The Phoenix Police Department was dispatched shortly before 6 a.m. for reports of a shooting near 35th Avenue and Greenway Road. A woman suffering from a gunshot wound was found at the scene and taken to a hospital.

Police said the woman’s injuries appeared to be life-threatening. The police department’s air and K-9 units searched the area, resulting in a man being detained. Police said the male suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the scene and access to this area may be restricted. The suspect’s identity was not disclosed.
