PHOENIX — A woman was indicted for a rollover crash that resulted in the death of her 9-year-old daughter, according to the Maricopa County Attorney.

Brenda Rivera Estrada crashed her SUV on Interstate 17 near Cactus Road on April 12. 

Estrada’s four children were in the car at the time of the crash. Estrada’s 9-year-old daughter died. The three other children sustained minor injuries. 

As stated in Estrada’s initial appearance in court, deputies believed she was under the influence of marijuana at the time of the crash. 

The county attorney said Estrada’s blood work results came back positive for both marijuana and meth.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, Phoenix, posted on their social media that Estrada encountered ICE at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Intake, Transfer and Release facility, and ICE agents took her into custody. 

She was eventually taken from ICE custody to the Maricopa County Jail after a warrant was issued, according to the county attorney. 

Estrada is being indicted on six counts, which include manslaughter, endangerment and possession of dangerous drugs.
