Carol Ann Beall was taken into custody on May 28 by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department for allegedly being involved in the 1975 death of 73-year-old William Sipfle.
The arrest was the result of an ongoing effort to identify human remains discovered in Pima County.
In October 1975, the remains of an unidentified man were found near the Pima County Waste Transfer Station. The case soon turned cold after the sheriff’s department was unable to confirm the dead man’s identity.

Fifty years later, in 2025, a genealogical analysis was conducted that led to investigators identifying the man’s granddaughter, who reported her grandfather had gone missing in the 1970s, but no report of his disappearance could be found on file, the sheriff’s department said.
PCSD eventually identified the deceased man as Sipfle.
Now the victim’s stepdaughter, Beall, is facing a murder charge and has been booked into the Pima County jail.
