PHOENIX, Arizona — The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating a deadly crash that shut down Interstate 17 northbound lanes really early Saturday morning.

Initially reported as a multi-vehicle collision with unknown injuries, DPS later confirmed the incident involved a pedestrian and a semi-truck. 

The pedestrian may have run into the roadway and was struck by the semi-truck, officials said. The pedestrian died at the scene.

No additional details have been released.
