DPS officials say the collision happened around 3:04 a.m. Saturday in the northbound lanes of I-17 near Bethany Home Road. The crash involved a motorcycle and at least one other vehicle.

Preliminary information indicates the motorcycle struck another vehicle, causing the rider to be ejected onto the roadway. The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead, authorities said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is unknown whether impairment played a role.

Initially, troopers responded to reports of a multi-vehicle crash with unknown injuries, prompting the closure of multiple lanes in the area. Traffic was significantly impacted for several hours during the investigation.

DPS has since confirmed that all lanes have fully reopened.

No additional details, including the identity of the victim, have been released as of Saturday morning.
