SAN ANTONIO — The family of a 17-year-old boy is mourning after he was declared brain-dead following an accident while celebrating the Spurs’ Western Conference Finals Game 6 victory, according to his family.
Joey Rodriguez suffered a severe head injury after falling from a vehicle on the night of May 28, according to San Antonio police.
Rodriguez’s grandmother told KENS 5 that he was declared brain-dead the next day.
According to police, Rodriguez was celebrating the Spurs’ win when he fell from the vehicle and suffered the head injury.

He remains on a ventilator as family members make final arrangements, his grandmother told KENS 5.
Loved ones described Rodriguez as a kind and caring teenager who was always willing to help others and would “give the shirt off his back” for someone in need.
