The Sky Harbor airport page says that “weather and other conditions in other parts of the nation may affect flights in Phoenix,” and the FAA’s Air Traffic Control System Command Center issued a statement saying:

“Due to STAFFING / STAFFING, there is a Traffic Management Program in effect for traffic arriving Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Phoenix, AZ (PHX). This is causing some arriving flights to be delayed an average of 1 hour.”

Flights scheduled for Thursday and Friday, June 5, until 3 p.m., Arizona time, could be affected by the ground delay.

As of Thursday, 211 flights had been delayed, and two had been cancelled, according to the airport’s website.

The average delayed time is 60 minutes with a maximum delay of 103 minutes, according to the Federal Aviation Administration website.

For travelers flying today and tomorrow, it’s recommended to check the flights with the airline. The FAA recommends selecting your departure airport and checking “delays in destination” to gather more information.
