At about 1:35 p.m., Avondale patrol officers arrived at a residence in the area of Acacia Circle and Villa Nueva Drive to “fulfill an authorized court order.”

When officers went into the house, they encountered a 30-year-old man in possession of a firearm.

“From there, an officer-involved shooting occurred and the adult male suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound”, said Avondale Police Officer Daniel Benavidez at a press conference later in the day.

The man was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Benavidez added that one officer fired his weapon and that other officers were on scene, but couldn’t give details on how many times the man was shot.
