MESA, Ariz. — A suspect has been detained after a shooting in Mesa that left a man seriously injured on Saturday morning, according to the city’s police department.

Around 4 a.m., officers received a call that someone had been shot near East University Drive and North Greenfield Road. Police said multiple callers reported hearing gunshots in the area.
Upon arrival, a man was found with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, police said.

A suspect has been detained in the shooting, and no one is outstanding.
