PHOENIX — A pedestrian is dead after a crash in Phoenix, the police department said.

Around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, officers were called to the scene near 51st Avenue and Van Buren Street for reports of a crash involving a pedestrian. As officers arrived on scene, they found an unresponsive man. 

The Phoenix Fire Department later arrived on the scene and pronounced the man dead, officials said.

Police did not release any other information on the victim. The driver of the involved vehicle also remained at the scene, police said. 

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
