PHOENIX — Laura Owens, the woman accused of faking a pregnancy with a former “Bachelor” star, is back in court on May 20.
During a hearing on April 9, a judge allowed out-of-state travel for two weeks in April and May. According to discussions during the proceedings, a plea deadline was set for the end of April.
During the May 20 hearing, both the state and Laura Owens’ attorney set a complex case management/change of plea conference for June 29. Owens’ attorney said they should have everything ready by that date.
Owens, 35, was indicted last May on multiple felony charges, including fraud, forgery and perjury.
In 2023, she filed a paternity lawsuit against Clayton Echard, former star of “The Bachelor,” claiming she was pregnant with his twins. Owens later sought child support but eventually dropped the claim, saying she had suffered a miscarriage, but a family court judge ruled her claim was false and referred Owens’ actions to the county attorney’s office for review.

Investigators allege Owens altered an ultrasound image, fabricated a pregnancy video and lied multiple times under oath.
In November 2025, Owens was indicted again on additional felony charges after investigators said she falsely claimed she was impregnated by a second victim in Scottsdale.
