GILBERT, Arizona — Gilbert Police say a recent enforcement operation targeting unsafe e‑bike and e‑motorcycle activity in the Power Ranch community led to multiple arrests, citations and impounds.

On May 20, police responded to several complaints from residents about disruptive and dangerous riding in shared community spaces, according to the Gilbert Police Department. Officers then launched a targeted crackdown focused on reckless behavior, property damage and disorderly conduct.

According to Gilbert Police, the operation resulted in:

  • 10 stops
  • 11 vehicles towed
  • 7 citations issued
  • 6 arrests, including two parents

Authorities say the arrests involved allegations such as reckless driving and permitting an unlicensed minor to operate a vehicle.

During one encounter, police said a 14-year-old juvenile attempted to flee and resist an officer. The situation led to the use of force, though no injuries were reported. Police noted all uses of force are reviewed under department policy.

Gilbert Police say issues involving unsafe e-bike and electric motorcycle use tend to increase during the summer and stressed a zero-tolerance approach moving forward.
