PRESCOTT, Ariz. — A suspect has been arrested for the overdose death of a man who was caring for two children at a Prescott motel last year, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the man overdosed and died in March of 2025. Over the last year, Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) Detectives investigated the case and arrested the suspected dealer, 33-year-old Kyle Guanell of Mesa.

On May 21, PANT arrested Guanell at the Maricopa County Superior Court.

He is accused of manslaughter, the sale of lethal fentanyl, transportation of narcotic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, YCSO said.

“Drug dealers will be held accountable for overdose deaths,” said Yavapai County Sheriff David Rhodes. “They knowingly sell a deadly drug and should be held responsible. We will tirelessly pursue justice to ensure they face the full weight of the criminal justice system.”

YCSO said the Prescott Police Department was a huge collaborator, and the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office was very helpful in this case.
