It may be an emotional morning at the Maricopa County Superior Court on Wednesday.
Two weeks ago, the mother of 16-year-old Rylee Montgomery, a pregnant woman who died along with her unborn child, talked about the devastating loss.
“My daughter was good,” Michelle said. “She was a good girl and was stolen away from me.”
Montgomery was 14 weeks pregnant when she was shot and killed in a Buckeye neighborhood near Miller and Lower Buckeye roads on May 14. Montgomery’s friends, a 22-year-old woman and 17-year-old Abby Krebs, were both critically shot.
Krebs was also pregnant. She survived and was forced to deliver her baby early. Sadly, her newborn died days later.
The next morning, 18-year-old Michael Sanchez, the father of Montgomery’s unborn baby girl, was arrested. He faces three counts of first-degree murder: one for Montgomery, and two for the unborn babies who lost their lives after the shooting.
Krebs later spoke about the heartbreaking loss of her son.
“He was my little mini me, but he was taken from me too soon,” Krebs said. “It’s been indescribable.”

19-year-old Antonio Tequida will also be in court this morning. He’s accused of helping Sanchez escape after the shooting. Investigators say Tequida drove Sanchez to a friend’s house to hide from officers. Tequida is charged with hindering prosecution.
Both Sanchez and Tequida are scheduled for their arraignment at 8:30 a.m.
