On May 7, the city council approved a settlement in relation to litigation filed by William Vannasap, who was injured in traffic incident as he was leaving the Arizona College Prep High School campus.

According to a notice of claim filed by the plaintiff, the collision was the result of another student staging a traffic stop with a school resource officer as part of a plan to ask a girl to prom.

A security camera captured the crash, which showed Vannasap on a motorcycle and getting hit by an oncoming vehicle.

Vannasap’s claim alleged that the SRO and school administration were reportedly aware of the other student’s “promposal” plan and faulted them for not trying to stop it.
