PHOENIX — A criminal death investigation is underway at an apartment complex near 27th Avenue and Dove Valley Road, the Phoenix Police Department told 12News.

Officers were called to the area for a reported shooting just after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, police said.
According to police, the area was contained by officers. One man was taken into custody after being commanded to exit an apartment, officials said.
Police entered the residence and found an unresponsive man with at least one gunshot wound, according to authorities.
Officials said the Phoenix Fire Department attempted life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene.
Detectives are investigating what occurred.
Police said there is no threat to the community following this incident.
