The theft happened Monday, May 4, just before closing at Three Thirty Three, according to restaurant CEO John DeVries.

Surveillance video shows a woman appearing to place a bottle of Louis XIII cognac into her purse before leaving the restaurant.

Detectives identified the suspects as 34-year-old Channel Miller and her husband, 32-year-old Matthew Steve, according to the Tempe Police Department.

Investigators believe the couple may be associated with the Romanian Travelers criminal group, which is known to target businesses in theft and fraud-related crimes across the country.

Three days after the theft, two unknown people returned the bottle to the restaurant before running away, police said.

Because the bottle had left the restaurant before being returned, it could not be sold.

On May 12, the couple turned themselves in to the Tempe Police Department. They were arrested for felony theft, a class 4 felony.

Anyone with additional information related to this case is asked to contact the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311.
