Eva Josefina Garcia, 23, from Goodyear, was arrested for the April 30 incident that occurred at the McKellips Police Station, at McKellips and Miller roads, according to SPD.

The shooting happened after Garcia reportedly entered the police station and pointed a gun at a police aide and a second person in the lobby, officials said.

When officers arrived, according to SPD, they ordered her to drop the weapon, but she pointed the weapon at officers, and that is when an officer shot Garcia.

Police said, “Once the woman (Garcia) fell to the ground and dropped the handgun, officers rushed to secure her and render first aid until she could be transported to the hospital for her injuries.”

There were no other injuries in this incident, police said.

Garcia is facing charges of “attempted homicide, aggravated assault on an officer, aggravated assault on an employee of a law enforcement agency, kidnapping – fear of injury, aggravated assault – innocent citizen, disorderly conduct -recklessly handle, display, or discharge a firearm,” officials said
