PHOENIX — A Phoenix firefighter was taken to a hospital on Thursday after sustaining an injury while responding to a house fire near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Crews were dispatched at about 2 p.m. after a smoke was seen coming from the attic space of a residence in the area. Firefighters cleared the home and a ladder crew was deployed to the roof for vertical ventilation.
One of the firefighters sustained a neck injury after a portion of the ceiling fell. A civilian was also taken to the hospital for minor smoke inhalation.

Both individuals were described as being in “stable” condition.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
