PHOENIX — A suspect has been taken into custody for allegedly being involved in a fatal shooting reported last month in north Phoenix.

On April 14, police officers responded to the area of Cave Creek and Cactus roads at about 2:30 a.m. for reports of a shooting that resulted in the death of 37-year-old Cheyenne Amestoy.
Detectives continued working the case over the next month and had gathered evidence to arrest 26-year-old Andrew Castanon-Espitia on May 12.

Police said the suspect was allegedly found in possession of a “large quantity” of drugs at the time of his arrest. The suspect was booked into jail and is facing a murder charge.
