PRESCOTT, Ariz. — A man was killed in a Prescott crash after he hit a curb, lost control and was thrown from his motorcycle on Friday night, according to the city’s police department.

Around 11:30 p.m., police were called to a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in the 900 block of East Gurley Street.

Upon arrival, officers determined that a 73-year-old Prescott man was driving a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Gurley Street when he failed to maneuver around a curve, causing him to hit a curb, police said.

After hitting the curb, he reportedly lost control and was thrown from the motorcycle.

The Prescott Fire Department and EMS provided the 73-year-old with emergency aid. He was taken to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center’s west campus, where he later died.

Police said that Gurley Street was shut down for about six hours for the crash investigation.

Witnesses reportedly observed the motorcycle driving at a high rate of speed before the crash.

Police said impairment may be a factor in the crash.
