PHOENIX — Eastbound I-10 in downtown Phoenix has reopened following a semi-truck rollover crash on Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred around 3 a.m. along the eastbound I-10 near 16th Street.

Traffic was being diverted off to Loop 202 and State Route 51.

The roadway has since reopened.

DPS said a small passenger vehicle struck a guardrail after attempting to avoid the semi-truck.

Luckily, no injuries were reported.

What is the Valley?

“The Valley” is what locals call the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. It is considered the largest metropolitan area in the Southwest.

Whether a city is in the “East Valley” or “West Valley” depends on where it is in relation to Phoenix.  

The cities of the Valley have a combined population of 4,845,832 people, according to the 2020 United States Census. This makes it the 11th largest metropolitan area in the country right behind the Boston and Atlanta areas.
