The Sahuarita Police Department released a video online showing a bear sitting in a tree in the Rancho Sahuarita neighborhood and a group of officers standing below, holding out a tarp to catch the animal.

The bear was tranquilized and eventually fell from the tree, landing on the tarp. Police said the animal was then safely relocated out of the area.

According to KVOA in Tucson, residents reported multiple bear sightings in the Green Valley and Sahuarita communities this week.

Bears can sometimes wander closer to Arizona’s more populated areas as they search for food and water. A bear was once found running loose in a grocery store north of Tucson last year.

Arizona Game and Fish said summer is considered the peak season for bear activity in some rural communities. The agency advises residents to keep garbage containers secured and not leave bird feeders out at night.
